Finest Worksong

Though Finest Worksong might not be one of my favourite R.E.M. songs it's potentially my favourite album opener. If Document is about the work ethic then Finest Worksong, and it's accompanying video, is the perfect robust start. What it lacks in hooks it makes up for in power and attitude, from the booming drums to the scratchy, industrial-sounding guitar.

I won't lie, I stole the drums from a source I found online, though it took a bit of work to get them sounding the same as on the album. The guitar and bass parts weren't complicated it just took some work getting them to sound right, for example the harmonics at the end, the slide guitar parts and that lovely second bass guitar part right at the end. There is also a really interesting strummed bass part in the middle 8 which you can barely hear on the original.
